Legal Services Fee Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We offer transparent and flexible fee arrangements tailored to meet the needs of our clients. Below is an explanation of our fee structures and the associated costs for specific services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Types of Fee Arrangements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Flat Fee<\/strong>
    A fixed cost for a specific service, agreed upon in advance. This structure provides clarity and eliminates surprises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Hourly Rate<\/strong>
    You are billed for the time spent working on your matter. For family litigation, funds are placed in a trust and used as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Fee Schedule<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Criminal Matters<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    • For simpler criminal cases (Summary Offenses), fees generally start at $5,000<\/strong>, covering detailed case analysis, disclosure review, resolution negotiations with the Crown and Court, and all necessary court appearances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • We typically offer staged block fees<\/strong>, which include an initial resolution fee<\/strong> (covering all court appearances, document analysis, and negotiations) and a trial fee<\/strong> if the case proceeds to trial. A separate bail fee<\/strong> may also apply if needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Summary Conviction Offense resolution fees<\/strong> are usually under $5,000<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Indictable Offense resolution fees<\/strong> are often under $10,000<\/strong>, except for cases requiring extensive preliminary inquiries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Trial fees<\/strong> range from $2,000 to $3,000 per day<\/strong>, in addition to the resolution fee. For highly complex cases requiring additional court days, trial fees start at $4,000 per day<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • In some situations, we may offer a combined resolution and trial fee<\/strong>. The most complex cases will be billed at an hourly rate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Additional Notes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      • HST<\/strong>: All fees are subject to applicable taxes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Disbursements<\/strong>: Disbursements are out-of-pocket expenses we pay on your behalf while working on your case. These are costs that are necessary to move your matter forward, such as:\n

        • Court filing fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Costs for obtaining medical or police reports<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Expert fees (e.g., accountants or appraisers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Mailing or courier charges<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • You will be responsible for reimbursing these expenses in addition to our legal fees. We always strive to keep these costs reasonable and will discuss them with you if\/when they arise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
